The most recent Romanian film to be honored at Cannes, Corneliu Porumboiu's (12:08 East of Bucharest) crime drama "Police, Adjective" was awarded the Un Certain Regard - Jury Prize in 2009. Dragos Bucur (Boogie), once again delivers a solid and memorable performance as a young policeman morally conflicted with the rigid legal system.  The film features the trademark minimalistic direction and cinematography of the Romanian New Wave, portraying a gritty and realistic atmosphere that immerses the viewer.

This would probably be popular in America right now.

Just curious, why the focus on Romanian films so far? :o

And I just ADORE the mise en scene in the 3rd photo, it just feels so creepy and depressing :D

No, special reason. Just what I have been watching recently.

The scene in the third screenshot was really well done. It is a first person point of view shot of the main character watching those kids smoking a joint from an alcove across the street. You don't see it in the photo but on our side of the fence, running in and out of frame, are a bunch of children playing football.
