Taking place in a village not far from Bucharest, during the last year of communism. Follows the story of Lalalilu, a 7 year old boy who dreams of killing Ceausescu, and Eva his rebellious older sister who wants to escape Romania.

How I Celebrated the End of the World, the first feature from Cătălin Mitulescu (Trafic), is a charming, beautiful, and poetic telling of the last year of communism in Romania.  Seen from the eyes of a young boy and his sister.  Doroteea Petre (Ryna), deservedly won the Un Certain Regard - Best Actress award at Cannes for her brilliant role of Eva.

I think I saw some of Mitulescu's stuff at a film festival last year. Really moving stuff, and a testament to low-budget filmmaking. Will havce to track this one down, cheers.
