Summary:
Silviu has just two weeks remaining before his release from a juvenile penitentiary. His mother, who abandoned him long ago, returns to take his younger brother with her - a brother Silviu raised like a son. IMDB

If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle the first film from Florin Serban, is Romania's official selection for the Foreign Language Film category of the 2011 Academy Awards.  It is a minimalistic tragic prison tale, using a cast of real convicts.  For a first time actor, George Pistereanu (Silviu) performs incredibly well here.  Once again cinematographer Marius Panduru, the backbone of the Romanian New Wave, deftly captures the story in his trademark style.

I have to say, really brave casting choices. It adds a layer of depth to the movie because you wonder what the actors were convicted for.
