Last night, the 25th annual European Film Awards were presented in a ceremony held at the Mediterranean Conference Center in Valletta, the picturesque capital of Malta. 18 awards were handed out, in honor of the year's best examples of European cinema.
Following its major success earlier this year at Cannes, and sweeping the major categories with 4 wins, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress, was Austrian director Michael Haneke's Amour. Another multiple winner was the just recently reviewed here, Kauwboy. Which took home the Young Audience Award, and the FIPRESCI European Discovery Prize.

It's looking more and more like a sure bet for Amour to take home the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. What do you think?

Wow, Amour really got the love (pun intended, for the giggles). Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy should be coming up on the reviews soon, hopefully?
I'll consider it, just to make this post complete. May have to watch it again though, it's been almost a year since I saw it.
I'm okay with Amour winning for performances. not so sure it deserves the other awards. I guess it depends on the competition. Would have been nice to see Intouchables or Once Upon a Time in Anatolia on the win list, the former probably stands a good chance at a foreign language nomination for the oscars.
Whether films are eligible or not is very complicated to keep up with, The Hunt I heard is not eligible for the oscars this time around, yet it is eligible for European awards.
