Carlos, an epic biography from acclaimed French director Olivier Assayas, is his five and a half hour long magnum opus.  Despite the unusually long running time, it is fast paced, action packed, and riveting.  Filmed in a faux documentary style, the realism draws the audience into the action almost as if watching the events happen live.  Edgar Ramirez delivers a mesmerizing performance, able to switch seamlessly from smooth talking, charming and charismatic to cruel and brutal terrorist.

Did you watch the theatrical or television version?  The thing I love about Olivier Assayas' films is they always have an international setting with many languages and countries.

I had this in my collection for a while but no time to watch it. Checked it out some weeks ago and it was great to see. Also liked the fact that part of it was shot in The Netherlands.

I thought it was a typo seeing the 330 minute run time! I've heard good buzz about this one from friends though. Definitely one for a lazy weekend. I wonder how it stacks up with the two Che films with Benicio Del Toro.
