Twentynine Palms (2003)

Twentynine Palms (2003)

Genre: Drama / Horror
Director: Bruno Dumont
Starring: Yekaterina Golubeva, David Wissak

Summary:
David, a freelance photographer and his Russian/French girlfriend Katia, head out from Los Angeles into the southern California desert, where they scout for a location for an upcoming magazine photo shoot. They stay in a motel in the town of Twentynine Palms and spend their days driving around the desert in their Hummer, losing themselves on nameless roads and trails.  They repeatedly fight, then kiss and make up, and little else goes on in their empty relationship and mundane lives.  Until something horrible and hideously brutal puts an end to their trip.

Twentynine Palms from French director Bruno Dumont, is a raw and unflinching work of art.  Very minimalistic and startlingly beautiful while at the same time a highly disturbing film.
