The Ladies of the Bois de Boulogne is the second film by Robert Bresson, and is a modernized adaptation of a story by 18th century writer Denis Diderot. Much like his first film Angels of the Streets, this is a conventional story and is his last film to use a cast of professional actors. This is a classic tale of romance and revenge, and like most films based on those themes, this comes across a bit far fetched. The characters are just not very believable, and the dialogue did not feel at all natural. I guess even the masters suffer from the sophomore slump.

Oh wow, this just took me back to my French Cinema college class! It's the first Bresson I ever watched and I think I should watch it again to see how my appreciation of it might have changed (now that I'm a grown up and all!).

Tricked in to married a prostitute? How exactly does that happen? I know, I know. Watch to find out.
DIDEROT! His Encyclopedie was so beautiful. I haven't heard of his fiction works though so this inspired me to look those up :D
Interesting plot. Women are just evil!
I have to admit I'm not familiar with any of his work.
That's the problem I had with the story. The whole situation and execution is just not very plausible.
