Still Walking is a family drama about grown children visiting their elderly parents, which unfolds over one summer day. The aging parents have lived in the family home for decades. Their son and daughter return for a rare family reunion, bringing their own families with them. They have gathered to commemorate the tragic death of the eldest son, who drowned in an accident fifteen years ago. Although the roomy house is as comforting and unchanging as the mother's homemade feast, everyone in the family has subtly changed.

Still Walking is a 2008 film by acclaimed Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda.  It is a subtle and delicate portrait of a family reunion over the course of a single day.  It may be a Japanese film, but the themes are universal, such a simple and realistic film that really captures the dynamics and complexities of life.

Ergh, this storyline hits too close to home. %$#@! universal themes! I think I need to go watch Enter The Void. No time for drama this week!

Really seems like one of those "everyone's the same, world goes round" type of movies.
