Illégal is a film written and directed by Olivier Masset-Depasse.  It is nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 36th Cesar Awards, and was Belgium's official selection to the 83rd Academy Awards.  It is an eye opening and moving look at the system and the treatment of the many undocumented immigrants in Belgium.  Lead actress Anne Coesens delivers a very strong performance, and much of the cinematography is shot with the hand-held realistic style reminiscent of fellow Belgian directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne.

Sounds a bit dreary.

I have a horrible weakness for films about mothers. My mom pretty much lived the illegal immigrant life until she finally got citizenship after a LONG while of struggling. Will look this up and see if I can get it subbed :)
