The Sanmo-kai family chairman learns that his henchman Ikemoto has struck an alliance with the drug-dealing Murase family, and is not best pleased, to say the least. IMDB

Actor/Director Takeshi Kitano's latest film Outrage was premiered at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.  A wild, ultra-violent, and often comedic portrayal of the yakuza world, Outrage shows the yakuza operating as a highly structured machine, not unlike a corporation with all the scheming, treachery, and back-stabbing, both figurative and literal that goes with the territory.

This world also happens to be impossibly picturesque and pristine, filled with thugs in freshly ironed and fitted suits, spotless and perfectly polished cars on traffic free streets, and flawlessly manicured zen gardens.  But it's not all sunshine and rainbows either, this film lives up to its name, there is more than enough brutal violence and bloodshed to satisfy even the most hardened gangster movie fan.  The old ways of the yakuza may be slowly dying, but Kitano proves that this genre can still be fresh.
