Eastern Plays is the debut feature from Bulgarian director Kamen Kalev and is Bulgaria's official submission to the 83rd Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.  It is an honest and captivating story set in the streets of the capital city Sofia and features dialog in Bulgarian, Turkish, and English.  What makes the film even more compelling is the story of the lead actor Hristo Hristov.  He was a non-professional actor who portrayed his own life in the film and tragically died shortly before the film was completed.

The story of the lead actor is really sad...I don't know how I feel about movies that depict reality TOO realistically because at times it seems kind of exploitative. IDK.

I love this movie!! Wish they will be open the theater in the United Sates too. This movie depict well of young people’s struggle for the future. The story appear to featured a problem of modern Eastern Europe, but everybody can empathize with main character and reflect the a sense of isolation or insecurity for the future. Each scene beautifully depicts. After you watched this movie, this movie will remain in your mind and hope for the future. This movie deserves the best foreign film of the year!!
