The Ghost Writer (2010)

The Ghost Writer (2010)

Genre: Drama / Mystery
Director: Roman Polanski
Starring: Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Kim Catrall, Olivia Williams
Duration:  128 min.
Rating: 7.5/10

An unremarkable ghost-writer has landed a lucrative contract to redact the memoirs of Adam Lang, the former UK Prime Minister. After dominating British politics for years, Lang has retired with his wife to the USA. He lives on an island, in luxurious, isolated premises complete with a security detail and a secretarial staff. Soon, Adam Lang gets embroiled in a major scandal with international ramifications that reveals how far he was ready to go in order to nurture UK's "special relationship" with the USA.

Celebrated director Roman Polanski's latest film The Ghost Writer, based on a novel by Robert Harris, recently took home 5 awards including Best Film at the European Film Awards.  It is an extremely well crafted and taut thriller, even if the premise and the story are not very believable.  The cast were great, especially Ewan McGregor and Olivia Williams but it is Polanski's direction that really makes this movie, every scene is meticulously thought out and shot in perfect detail.

The poster is so badly photoshopped, jeez. But Polanski really has a gift for direction. I just wish he'd turn himself in already about the rape thing -_-
