The 31st annual Hong Kong Film Awards were presented on Sunday April 15th at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
64 year old director Ann Hui's touching drama, A Simple Life, unsurprisingly swept five of the major awards including: best film, director, screenplay, actor, and actress. While Tsui Hark's action extravaganza, Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, which heading into the night led with the most nominations (13), took home five awards of its own in the technical categories.

I've only seen Let the Bullets Fly for my shame!
I've seen 0 films. I am focussing of Powell/Pressburger and Fritz Lang lately and contemporary Cinema is less and less in my interests since a couple of years... And damn Playoffs are taking my movie watching time down too... But I really like Hong Kong films when I take the time to catch one!
Which are the ones you recommend from this Awards?
I love Hong Kong cinema and it's a shame I haven't seen any of these. Thanks for the latest!
Fantastic post. I guess a simple life is going on the list as soon as I can get it.
I think I'm confused.. does a category have multiple winners?
One seems to be enough for the lead so far :)
Yes the playoffs have been exciting so far.
I quite enjoyed Life Without Principle, that's the one I would recommend. But I look forward to seeing A Simple Life, hopefully it gets a release here soon.
Thanks Christine!
Yep, I've been waiting to see that one since it's appearance at Venice last summer.
No just one winner. Do you not see the icon beside each one?
I know A Simple Life is gonna win,but not in such a large margin,Life Without Principle is close to it.
Now I see it! I think I just failed to acknowledge the icon.. Ahem
