Traffic Sources Chart: September 2011 |
The domain change went smoothly and Google seems to have recrawled all my pages successfully, now hopefully it doesn't take too long to build my page rank back up again.
I was hoping to be able to say that I reached 300 followers, but can't quite yet, it has been stuck on 299 for about a week now.
My Spotlight on Hungarian Films has run its course. There are still a few films that I want to add, but so far I haven't been able to find them, so it may be awhile before I'm able to do that.
For October, I will be focusing on films related to and part of the New French Extremity. Though not a true film movement, these films are categorized as such by having unflinching scenes of extreme sex and or violence. So you can either take that as a warning, or as an invitation for what I'll be watching and reviewing this Halloween season.
I'll also be trying to track down some of the Foreign Language Film entries for the 2012 Oscars and hopefully find some time to attend a few screenings at the Vancouver International Film Festival.
Random Links of the Month
Tyler of Southern Vision posted a brilliant list of his 100 Essential Foreign Films, it reminded me of quite a few films I still need to watch.
My favorite blog discovery of the month thanks to Never Too Early Movie Predictions is dzong2's Foreign Films. A blog predicting and covering the Best Foreign Film Oscar entries. He doesn't post very often but has been providing incredibly well researched summaries of the likely candidates for every country since 2007.
MsMariah's Space Blog-yssey posted some interesting photos from her trip to Dragon Con 2011
Cherokee of Feminizing Film doesn't post very often, but every post is an awesome one. This month she lists her 100 Favourite Films, an impressive and eclectic list full of surprises.
Ryan of The Matinee had some amazing and in my opinion unrivaled TIFF 2011 coverage. With a couple dozen movie reviews and daily notes. I wish I had the time to do the same for VIFF. Maybe next year.
I am very jealous of Cheri from I Love Italian Movies who was lucky enough to get to attend this year's Venice Film Festival, check out the photos from her wonderful trip.
Steven aka thevoid99 began his fascinating, and for me, nostalgia inducing series of posts on the year 1991 in music, over at his under appreciated music blog The Void-Go-Round
The Angry Lurker, my long time reader, biggest supporter, and most frequent commenter (even if the stats in the sidebar say otherwise) gives Rise of the Planet of the Apes a 4 star review.
bbbgtoby of blah blah blah gay continues his series of educational guest posts at Front Room Cinema the latest one teaches us the meaning of the term montage

Thanks for the linkage. I look forward to your New French Extremity posts!
I just got a domain myself. Congrats on all the good things you're working on!
I honestly don't really care about the followers count. Well maybe a just a little, but I knew that it would be an easy topic for discussion
Thanks. Looks like I did.
No problem. That is a great series of posts.
I thought that would get your attention. :)
Thank you MMB
getting lots of hits from the googles, nice! :D
Thank you for plugging my other blog! It needs some love and followers man. I'm stoked for the New French Extremity spotlight. I'm for anything that is fucked up.

"Either a warning or an invitation"...Ah, you know us all too well!
I'm looking forward to your reviews of the foreign Oscar contenders. I know it will be a while before any of them come to my area, so I'll be living vicariously through your blog for a while.
And thanks again for the link love!
Wow, that month passed really quickly. I feel like I was looking at one of your pie charts not too long ago...
You'll break the milestone soon, but doing so at the anniversary month would've been nice so I get you. Maybe you'll get the follower.. today?! (dun, dun, DUNNNN)
I like Random Musings! It's a great way to find out about new blogs and learn a thing or two. And don't worry, you will probably get over 300 followers soon enough! :D
Thanks CastorTroy, I appreciate the follow and the comments you leave. It's nice to see someone with such a busy site find the time to visit once in awhile. Cheers!
Yeah it sure did. It felt like I had just written one of these posts last week.
Well I think you have a pretty good one now.
congratulations Bonjour Tristesse! Go get that 300 follower!
You had me at sex and violence, thanks for the mention and here's to 300+ for a damn good movie site.
