The Trial of Joan of Arc is the sixth feature film from Robert Bresson, it was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the 1962 Cannes Film Festival alongside Michaelangelo Antonioni's L'Eclisse.  It is a retelling of the famous trial using dialog taken entirely from historical transcripts.  At a running time of just over an hour, the film felt almost like watching an episode of Law and Order: 1431.

I've seen many different versions of this story, and this one really offers nothing special.  We get to see Joan shuffled back and forth between cell and courtroom several times to face questioning, and not much of anything else.  Obviously the subject was very important to Bresson, and this is a very competent and faithful work, but having set the bar so high with his previous two films, I expected more compelling cinema.
