Genre: Crime Drama
Director: David Michôd
Starring: Ben Mendelsohn, James Frecheville, Jacki Weaver

Rating: 7.6/10
Summary:
Teenage Joshua Cody is suddenly on his own after his mother's drug habit catches up with her, and he's taken in by his grandmother Smurf, usually regarded as the black sheep of the family. Joshua quickly learns Smurf's reputation is well deserved; she and her four sons are members of a mid-level crime syndicate that operates out of her home in Melbourne.

Animal Kingdom the debut feature from Australian director David Michôd, was awarded the Grand Jury Prize for best World Cinema - Dramatic film at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. An intense and unsettling story of a Melbourne crime family with some fine acting performances, especially from Jacki Weaver as the scheming matriarch of the family, and Ben Mendelsohn as the eerily menacing Uncle Pope. Overall a very well crafted film, with great direction and a gripping story. The one issue I had was with the score, it was too overbearing and intrusive and only served to cheapen the emotional impact of many scenes.

Badass grandma themes?! Holy crap I gotta watch this!
i think all these movies are great
Looking good =]
I agree on the score. The film was good on its own without needing an in your face score to tell you when to feel an emotion.
